A Royal Visit

BGIFC Singapore were delighted to be invited to a Remembrance Service with HRH Princess Royal on 1st November. 6 Guides and one member of The Senior Section were invited to attend with our joint District Commissioners, along with 7 young members from British Scouts in Singapore and their Group Scout Leader. Megan, our representative from The Senior Section had the first task to perform when HRH Princess Royal arrived, to open her car door. HRH Princess Royal was then led up the main walkway of Kranji War Cemetery which was lined by the Guides and Scouts. We all filed behind and joined a short service of remembrance as HRH Princess Royal laid a wreath. Following a tour of the cemetery and having signed the visitors’ book, HRH Princess Royal came for a chat with the Guides and Scouts. She seemed intrigued about where we met in Singapore and was pleased to hear we have such great support from the international schools here. She asked about the interest badges that the Guides and Scouts had achieved and joked that Guides could ‘put their badges anywhere these days’! It was such an honour to be invited to join this event and our members did a fantastic job of representing BGIFC!
