Our newest Brownie Unit have been busy!
Autumn Term 2015
10th Singapore Brownies
We are having a fantastic and busy term. From the start, we knew that throughout these few months there were many festivals to celebrate so what better badge to do but the World Cultures. As part of this badge we wanted to have our own Dragon Boat race so then we needed to do our Water Safety badge too. Finally, the girls requested a trip Jurong Bird Park so we added the Friends to Animals to the list as well!
The Dragon Boat race has been the highlight so far. In the sixes, we got the girls to design their own dragon heads which we then attached to pool noodles then attached these to lilos. They were sturdy vessels! After several postponements of the race due to the haze – it finally went ahead the Monday after half term! The girls threw themselves into the spirit of it all and came up with some pretty inventive ways to get the “boat” to go faster. Everyone had a real laugh and of course we ended the meeting with us owls going head to head on the “boats” ourselves. Not sure who won from laughing so much.
With only a few weeks left, and with the Halloween party, Hari Raya talk, and a visit from Chloe and Mary the hamsters safely behind us we are on the home straight! One last big event – our first ever sleepover which we are holding at the school this Saturday. After that we’ve got Deepavali, our Promise Ceremony and finally our Christmas Party! Phew! But wait! We still can’t relax! Over the last few weeks, when we’ve had a few spare minutes we have been practicing those all essential Christmas carols all in preparation for the BGIFC Singapore Christmas Service taking place in early December. We can’t wait!
