British Girlguiding Overseas

Who are we?

British Girlguiding Overseas (BGO) (previously BGIFC) is part of Girlguiding UK, and has been in existence since 1911. Units are based in many parts of the world, in areas where it is impossible or inappropriate, for reasons such as language or culture, for the girls to join the local national organisation.

Members make the same Promise as in the UK, follow the current programme as appropriate to their Section, and wherever possible follow the policy and rules of Girlguiding UK.

Currently, in Singapore, we have 3 Rainbow Units (aged 5-7 yrs), 8 Brownie Units (aged 7-10 yrs), 3 Guide Units (aged 10-15 yrs) and 1 Rangers Unit (aged 14-18 yrs).... and we continue to grow as more girls are demanding to join in the fun!  To find out more about our sections click here.

We give girls a voice

... giving the girls the confidence, skills and information to make informed decisions. We show girls how they can speak out and take positive action to improve their lives and the lives of others.

We change as the lives of girls change

... by being relevant to today’s girls because we listen to them and constantly evolve and adapt what we offer them without losing what makes us uniquely us.

Our camps, holidays and trips give girls the chance to try new adventures, from quad-biking, orienteering and abseiling, to zorbing, canoeing and zip-wiring are fun ways to unlock the true potential in themselves.

We are for all girls

... whatever their background and circumstances. We offer them fun, exciting activities and the chance to make life-long friends and gain valuable life skills.

We give girls their own space

... where they can really be themselves with other girls and share the experience of growing up as a girl in today’s world.

BGO units are run by volunteers - people like you, who just want to help provide these amazing experiences to the girls.  If you are interested in helping out - whether it's behind the scenes or leading a unit... get in touch now!
